Register for the SAT and/or ACT Although some institutions have adopted test-optional admissions policies, rising seniors should consider taking the June 6 SAT or the July 11 ACT. Students often perform better on one test than the other, so taking both is highly recommended. You can always choose whether or not to submit these scores. Adhering to these dates will ensure you are eligible for Early Decision/Early Action deadlines beginning November 1st. Visit the College Board’s website for information about SAT registration and test score deadlines: https://sat.collegeboard.org/register. Visit the ACT website for information about deadlines: www.act.org. Please note: Please follow the SAT and ACT websites closely for rescheduled dates or delays. Read pages 27-30 of the Guide. Many colleges require standardized test scores as a component of your application. Use the summer months to prepare to take the SAT and/or ACT. Note on fee waivers: If you have not taken the SAT or ACT previously, or think you may be eligible, speak with your counselor 3-4 weeks before the registration deadline to see if you qualify for fee waivers.
