Alumni volunteers are not only serving Professional Clothing Drive current studentsthey are supporting one another throughA fantastic partnership between long-time volunteer leaders, our alumni leadership and working groups, alumni giving corporate partners, and friends of Heights culminated incampaign, and our alumni greeter program which welcomesour inaugural Professional Clothing Drive, which launched new graduates into our alumni community. on May 9, 2025. The drives goal was to make the professional attirenecessary to prepare for interviews, presentations, graduations,extracurricular activities, and other career related eventson an ongoing basis available to Heights high school students. The event was led by volunteer co-leaders, Beth Buckmanand Debbie Zlotnick, who organized the entire drive from ideato execution, and supported by Glenmede, Cigna/Evernorth, and New York Life who donated and volunteered.Heights 2024 Mock-a-Thon Over 25 volunteers worked 1:1 with collegians for the Heights 2024 Mock-a-Thon which took place November 18 throughNovember 20, 2024! This was a massive volunteer effort thatprovided an important opportunity for our collegiansSTEM Mentorship to receive feedback and encouragement and to developtheir interview skills. Starting in Summer 2024, a group of mentors with variedbackgrounds in STEM were matched with mentees whoparticipated in either the Biomedical and Life Science (BEAM) or Computer Science (BLI) summer programs. Mentors (volunteers) and mentees (students) met both 1:1 and as a group throughout the year to explore educational paths and careers within STEM,develop goals, get feedback, and create relationshipsthat will undoubtedly support students in the long run. Heights Young Friends CommitteeFlash Mentoring College KickstartThe Heights Young Friends Committee (HYFC) is a committed group of Heights alumni and volunteers who are recent college graduates. Volunteers were a huge part of supporting students collegeLed by Tynecia Wilson 16, Heights & Steppingstone Alum, personal statements during College Kickstart, which took placeand Miller Joyce, long-time friend and supporter of Heights August 6 through August 9, 2024. Some volunteers spent the fourand Steppingstone, the mentors come from a variety of educational days in-person with students facilitating their small writing groups,backgrounds and career industries.
