Bryson Downing George Washington Carver High School, Class of 2023 Delaware State University, Class of 2027, B.S., Aviation As an aspiring airline pilot, I had the choice of how to obtain my training: through an independent flight school or through a college pathway. Both routes would have provided me with the necessary flight training to obtain my dream, but only the college pathway guaranteed industry connections. Delaware State University gave me access to alumni that mentored me along the way and truly expanded my worldview. As a kid from Philly who had no foot in the aviation industry, I didn’t expect so much support, but I was warmly embraced at Delaware State’s Aviation Program. “I didn’t expect so much support, but I was warmly embraced at Delaware State University.” Andell Quartey Parkway Center City Middle College, Class of 2026 West Chester University, Class of 2028 From the beginning of the application process, I knew I wanted to attend a college that equips students to make a positive impact on their communities. The Heights Law and Justice Mentorship Program (LJMP) helped me find my fit by introducing me to legal professionals who come from a similar background as myself and supporting visits to spaces I would not normally have access to, such as the Penn Carey Law School and the Federal Courthouse. Participating in the LJMP solidified my choice in major: I will be studying Political Science at West Chester University, with a concentration in Government and Politics, on a pre-law track. I like that the political science curriculum emphasizes diverse perspectives and ethical decision making. WCU is taking a majority of my dual enrollment credits, saving me time and money. Apart from academics, I love that the campus is a good distance from home — allowing me to feel independent — while also being close enough to not miss any family events. “I knew I wanted to attend a college that equips students to make a positive impact.” How I Found My Fit We asked real students like you to share how they found the colleges that are the best academic, social, and financial fit for them. 16
