Alcina Kofa George Washington High School, Class of 2026 Saint Joseph’s University, Class of 2030 I was interested in Saint Joseph’s University because it was close to home, but I was worried about financial aid. However, then I was blessed with the beautiful Heights scholarship! When you get a letter saying that you have your full tuition covered, it’s a no-brainer. Everybody whose opinion I cared about — my parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends — were saying the same thing, “You have to attend.” There was no barrier of it being out of state or a whole bunch of miscellaneous fees to pay; it was a decision that was so clear. As much as it’s stressful to constantly think about financial aid, the only thing you can do is do your research. My advice is to find as much support as possible, and sometimes a blessing will be waiting for you that could shape and change your whole perspective and college dream. “There was no barrier of it being out of state or a whole bunch of miscellaneous fees to pay; it was a decision that was so clear.” Tamara Brockington Abington Friends School, Class of 2026 Drexel University, Class of 2030 What pulled me toward Drexel the most was its co-op program, which is ranked #2 in the nation. I’ve always wanted more than just classroom learning, I wanted real experience that would prepare me for my future career in biomedical engineering and healthcare innovation. Drexel stood out to me because it felt like they genuinely prepare students for the real world, not just for exams. Another major factor was being selected as both an Honors Student and a Liberty Scholar. Knowing that my tuition and fees are fully covered, along with support from outside scholarships, took a huge weight off my shoulders and my family’s shoulders. The advice I would give is to really think about where you feel seen, supported, and motivated to grow. Don’t choose a school just because other people think it sounds impressive. Choose the place where you can honestly picture yourself succeeding and becoming the person you want to be. “Think about where you feel seen, supported, and motivated to grow.” 17 Starting Your College Search
