When I first arrived at college, I had unrealistic expectations and felt out of balance. I had to learn to face my challengesand keep going, with patience and persistence. Both my social and academic experiences have prepared me for success because they have acquaintedme with failure and discomfort, which is a part of every journey. After college, Im hoping to get an advanced degree in science, so that I can be an expert researcher and contribute to a better future for people of color.I participated in a research lab during undergrad that was dedicated tomedical research of bacteriophages. I became obsessed with lab techniques and developed critical thinking skills I hope to carry into my own lab someday.yourself, even when life gets hard.
